A Bach Family Affair: Organ Music by J. S. Bach and His Circley
JO SHUTE
James Welch will share a program of music by Bach and those who were important to him: a teacher, his children, his students, his followers, his publisher, and his wife.
These include Buxtehude, J. S. Bach, C.P.E. Bach, Johann Christian Bach, Johann Christian Kittel, Johann Christian Rinck, Johann Georg Schübler, and Anna Magdalena Bach.
It’s a fascinating way to look at music of that period. The program will include a variety of styles from pre-Bach, high baroque, and slightly into the classic period. The stories that accompany each of these composers make for an interesting look into the importance of Bach’s music and those around him. This program promises to be both delightful and educational.
